Ryan Lowe has certainly changed the mood around Preston in his short tenure in charge. This showed after Saturday with the majority being disappointed in coming away from the game with only one point.
North End set up with wing backs as is now customary under Lowe's management. They had the better of the first half and took the lead when the ball fell to Browne on the edge of the box. His driving shot took a slight deflection off Baeur and past the keepr into the net to give Preston the lead.
Preston had a number of opportunities to stretch their lead. Evans should have sqaured to Johnson for a simple finish. Maguire on as a substitute should have played Barkhuizen clean in but didn't execute his pass correctly. The keeper also made a save form a curling effort.
The home side were generally on top but Birmingham came into the game in the second period and made a triple substitution towards the end throwing everything at Preston.
A lapse in judgment at the back meant substitute Hogan was free in the box to head home from a cross to equalise. Preston should have been out of sight at that point but had to settle for a point.
North End now face Sheffield United in midweek at Deepdale as they continue a bumper month of fixtures to try and catch up due to all of the covid postponements.
