Changes were forced upon Alex Neil with the suspension of Ben Pearson. Johnson came back into the team whilst Ledson was a direct replacement for Pearson. Fisher also returned at right back in place of Clarke.

North End probably shaded the first half. They could have scored early on when a free header from a set piece went sailing over when the target should have been hit.

Preston did take the lead just before the break when Johnson smahed home a well worked free kick from Gallagher. Johnson netted home from inside the box with his left foot.

The visitors came out stronger in the second half trying to maintain their top six position. Preston failed to win the first ball and the ball was nodded down to Diedhiou who turned inside the six yard box and slotted home.

Rudd was then forced into an excellent save to keep the scored level. North End did have chances as well but neither side could find a winner meaning Preston remain six points behind Bristol City.
