As it was the last game of the season Billy Barr fielded a very youthful outfit with over half the team under the age of 16 and the rest were all trainees at the club.

The idea was to get the youngsters to push on to the next level which would be reserve football whilst still training and then eventually into the first team. Preston conceded two goals in the first half which led to their defeat.
