It just took PNE four minutes to take the lead with a goal from Jamie Proctor. The lead was doubled on the half hour as Proctor scored his second goal of the night. Two minutes later Preston made it 3-0 as Jamie Douglas got on the scoresheet. A goal from sub Michael McLellan on 84 minutes made the score 4-0 to North End.
PNE have now gained 22 points out of the last 24 to help them reach the top of the table. They are one point ahead of Burnley who didn't have a match this week.
