PNE Youths beat Bury Youths 3-2 in the Youth Cup Final to retain the trophy.

A crowd of 646 saw Preston retain the LFA Professional Youth Cup at Deepdale today in a 3-2 victory over Bury and so completed a league and cup double for the Youths.

PNE took the lead on 4 minutes through Scott Leather curling shot from the edge of penalty area. The lead just lasted two minutes as Danny Hudson equalised for the Shakers.

Preston took the lead again on 34 minutes when Sam Hart’s shot was only parried by the goalkeeper and Ryan McCreevy shot past the goalie and into the net via the post.

PNE extended the lead on 54 minutes Shakers centre half Kyle McGonigle scored an own goal from a cross from Leather.

Danny Hudson scored his second on 59 minutes to make it 3-2 and had two chances on 74 minutes to score an hat-trick but couldn’t quite reach.

Preston finished the stronger as the Lilywhites hit the woodwork twice in the last five minutes.

PNE Team: Dominic Comrie, Scott Leather, Sam Hart, George Miller, Fred Holtom, Daniel Devine, Tom Owens, Scott Davidson, Ryan McCreevy, Jamie Proctor, Neil Dougan.

Subs: Michael McLellan, Steven James, Seanan Clucas, Luke Clarke, Will Hayhurst.
