Preston scored twice within half an hour and scored a third with almost 20 minutes to go to lead 3-0 with a brace from Brandon Zibaka and a goal from Will Hayhurst. With just less than 20 minutes to goBurnley pulled one back via Jason Gilchrist.

PNE have leapfrogged over Burnley and Bury, who lost 1-0 at home to Oldham, to lead the table.

Tranmere move into second spot with a 3-0 win at Wrexham whilst Walsall still have an 100% record with a 2-0 win at Wigan having just played three matches.

Therefore Preston lead the table with 10 points from 5 matches, with Tranmere, Burnley, Walsall & Bury all on 9 points, although all have a game in hand of Preston except Walsall who have played two matches less.
