MLS News

News in this week that Eddie Lewis, the former Preston winger, has joined up with another former Preston midfielder at LA Galaxy. Lewis who found himself frozen out of the Derby side since Paul Jewell took over signed for the Californians this week.

David Beckham/LA Galaxy

The aforementioned other former Preston midfielder, David Beckham was in action for the LA Galaxy in their 2-2 draw with Chivas USA last Thursday. The tie now means that it is now win in eight games for the Galaxy who will be looking to Eddie Lewis to conjure up chances for the Galaxy front men.

As well as club duties, Beckham featured in another 2-2 draw, this time for England against the Czech Republic. It was Beckham's corner that Wes Brown got himself on the end of to force an equaliser for England. Beckham was later substituted and replaced by David Bentley.

Up next for the Galaxy and indeed David Beckham is a match up with Chicago Fire and Brian McBride.

Danny Dichio/Toronto FC

After making his comeback as a second half substitute last week, Dichio came on at half time for the Reds as he replaced Laurent Robert in Toronto's 2-0 defeat with New York. Having suffered another defeat, it now means that Toronto were unable to build on their 1-0 win against Colorado last week and will be desperate that another winless run is prevented.

Dichio will welcome another forward to the roster at BMO Field as Carlos Ruiz has joined from LA Galaxy as he was exchanged for a first round draft pick which saw Eddie Lewis sign for LA. This will mean that the pressure is not solely on the former Preston target man to provide the goals and more competition for places.

Brian McBride/Chicago Fire

McBride enjoyed a white hot welcome to Chicago when he came on as a substitute to make his debut on Saturday. Having come back from the Olympics, McBride can now concentrate on his Fire career having waited and waited due what became somewhat of an ongoing transfer saga.

Fire lost 1-0 against DC United but will be full of confidence now their main man is in contention as they prepare for a trip to the LA Galaxy, who of course are looking for that all important first win in 8.
