Across The Pond

As the regular season in the MLS draws to a close we will take a look at how the former Preston players got on for their final game this season as well as seeing how they got on over the course of the campaign.

Brian McBride/Chicago Fire

We shall start with the Brian McBride and the Chicago Fire who played on Thursday. The former Everton and Fulham striker got himself on the score sheet for Fire's 5-2 thrashing of New York. McBride got Fire's 4th goal of the night, making it 4-1 before Daniel Woolard made it 5.

Fire finished second in the Eastern Standings on 46 points, 8 points behind McBride's former club, Columbus Crew.

Fire are now preparing themselves for a trip to New England to take on the Revolution on Thursday as part of the MLS Cup play-offs, which of course we will be keeping you up to date with.

David Beckham & Eddie Lewis/LA Galaxy

Both Beckham and Lewis were in the starting eleven for the Galaxy as they drew 2-2 with FC Dallas on Saturday. Beckham was credited with an assist likewise was Lewis with a half assist for Galaxy's first goal as Landon Donovan got on the end of one of Beckham's crosses. Eddie Lewis switched play beautifully to David Beckham who looked up and spotted Landon Donovan on the edge of the six yard box. Beckham put in a perfectly weighted cross which was met emphatically by Donovan to make it 1-0.

Dallas fought back to bake it 2-1 to the Texas side before Donovan netted a penalty to salvage a point for the Californians. Galaxy finished second bottom in the Western Standings on the same points as fellow Californians, San Jose Earthquakes.

Danny Dichio/Toronto FC

Toronto's final game of the MLS season resulted in a 2-0 defeat to San Jose Earthquakes. Danny Dichio was in from the start but was later substituted and replaced by Carlos Ruiz.

Toronto finished at the foot of the Eastern Standings once again on 35 points, two points behind DC United.
