Preston North End's Ex-Files

On a weekly basis, I shall be taking a look at Ex-Preston players who are still playing professionally and seeing how they are doing. Not only will it give an insight into where they are now they whilst they are no longer a lilywhite but also roundup of how have performed recently.

First up is Kelvin Wilson. Wilson was signed by Billy Davies from Notts County, initially on loan in March 2006. Kelvin was in and out of the Preston side as he deputised at centre half but also right full back. The promising defender decided to go back to his Nottingham roots in search for first team football with Notts County rivals, Nottingham Forest after a fee of £300,000 was agreed between Preston and Forest. Some may feel that Wilson wasn't given a fair crack of the whip at Deepdale and believe that his versatility would have come in to good use this season with notable absences in the right back department still very much a major concern for Alan Irvine. Kelvin's aim at the start of the season was to establish himself as a first team regular, that he has done and has become a pivotal player in Colin Calderwood's promotion chasing side.

Accordingly, Kelvin has made 29 appearances so far this season for Forest including the 2-2 draw with Millwall at the New Den on Wednesday. It was touch and go for a moment early in the second half when Kelvin went down and initially was unable to get up. But after limping off, he was soon back on and put in a solid performance to help Forest earn a 2-2 draw which would take them up to second place in League 1. Up next for Wilson and Forest, is the visit of Swansea who currently top the table. Wilson and co will be hoping to keep the Swans at bay in a bid to catch them up and challenge for the League 1 title.
