Old Boys Carling Cup Round Up Part 2
David Healy marked his Sunderland debut with an extra time goal at the City Ground on Wednesday night to see the Mackems progress to the League Cup 3rd round. Premiership Sunderland had to wait until the 86th minute to respond to Robert Earnshaw's free kick and with the game at 1-1 at full time, extra time was required to separate the two sides. Within just 3 minutes of the restart, Healy pounced to finish off a Grant Leadbitter effort which, turned out to be the winner. Kelvin Wilson watched on from the stands as he is still recovering from injury.
Former skipper Chris Lucketti and his Huddersfield teammates suffered a 2-1 defeat to Championship outfit Sheffield United. Flynn had put the home side ahead but late goes from Henderson and Naughton on 82 and 83 minutes respectively saw that Lucketti's former club progress as opposed to his present.
