Old Boys International Round Up

Tonight at Wembley Stadium saw two former Preston players feature in the England Vs USA fixture; firstly there was David Beckham winning his 101st cap for England by making the starting 11 and subsequently reclaiming his number 7 shirt. Beckham's hard work and endeavour was evident throughout the first half and came close to providing an assist for an early England goal. 12 minutes in and a trademark Beckham cross from a set piece was met by Steven Gerrard, only for it to be disallowed as the whistle had already gone for an infringement.

A Beckham assist was on the cards though and came after 38 minutes. A free kick from the right was whipped in by Beckham and met by skipper John Terry with a powerful header. 1-0 to England which was how it stayed until half time, when Beckham was substituted.

The second ex Preston player to feature tonight was Eddie Lewis for the USA. Lewis came onto replace Josh Wolff after 68 minutes to make his 75th cap. The game finished 2-0 to England.
