Old Boys International Round Up

David Beckham captained the England side that met Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday night, fuelling the speculation that he may be the man that Fabio Cappello chooses as his permanent captain. Beckham showed qualities that we have all become accustomed to when watching the former Lilywhite, providing quality crosses for the front two demonstrating hard work and endeavour. It took Beckham as soon as the first minute for him to whip a cross in and with Stewart Downing lurking with intent, England almost took an early lead. Shortly after the Leytonstone born midfielder, had an opportunity from a free kick; twenty yards out is usually dubbed as 'Beckham territory', but in this instance it only reached as far as the wall.

Beckham played the entire first half but then was substituted at half time and replaced by David Bentley of Blackburn Rovers. The captain's armband was then given to Aston Villa's Gareth Barry. The game finished a comfortable 3-0 to England.
