Old Boy Midweek Round-Up

As their former club stumbled, there were a few notable former North End players that prospered in midweek for their respective clubs. None more so than Graham Alexander who netted a penalty for Burnley as the Clarets came from behind twice to beat Watford 3-2 at Turf Moor. After a recent run of good results, Burnley now find themselves in 4th spot on 15 points.

Craig Beattie scored his first goal for Crystal Palace on Tuesday night as the Eagles saw off Alan Pardew's Charlton Athletic in a 1-0 win. Manager Neil Warnock has praised the former Celtic man's contribution to the team and will be hoping that there is more to come from Beattie. Andy Gray came on as a second half substitute.

Former Preston midfielder Brian Stock was in from the start as Doncaster lost to Sheffield United at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday night. After suffering five straight defeats, Stock and his Rovers teammates now find themselves in the bottom three and in need of points before they get sucked into the relegation mire.

Patrick Agyemang came on at half time for QPR who are the time were 1-0 down to Preston's bitter rivals Blackpool. QPR managed to salvage a point with Dexter Blackstock equalising from close range.

Meanwhile, Tommy Miller was an unused substitute for Ipswich Town and watched on as the Tractor Boys saw off Simon Davey's Barnsley in a 3-0 win. Rob Kozluk and Jon Macken both played the full ninety minutes for the Tykes.

The only game played in League One this week saw Paul Reid and his Colchester United teammates suffer a 1-0 defeat to Leicester City who have gone top.
