Old Boys Weekend Round Up

Starting off with the FA Cup, former Lilywhite David Nugent got himself on the pitch for the last 20 or so minutes in Portsmouth's 1-0 win over Cardiff in the FA Cup final. The Merseyside born striker looked lively when he came on, replacing John Utaka and came close to making it 2-0 but for Peter Enkleman, in the Cardiff goal, thwarting his effort. Although Nugent's appearances have been limited this season for Portsmouth, he has contributed to their FA cup campaign. His goal against Ipswich back in January proved to be decisive and sent Pompey into the 4th round.

Championship Play-Offs

Watford's quick return to the Premier League was stopped in its tracks as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat to an impressive Hull side. Tamas Priskin came on as a second half substitute but was unable to make the impact that Boothroyd would have wanted. The 4-1 defeat on the night meant that the aggregate score was 6-1 to Hull who will face Bristol City in the Championship Play-Off final.

League One Play-Offs

Brian Stock was in fine form for Doncaster Rovers in their 5-1 demolition of Southend United. Stock opened the scoring for Rovers from the penalty spot after 11 minutes and had the upper hand over another former Preston midfielder, Alan McCormack who will be disappointed with Southend's performance. The result means that there will be an all Yorkshire final at Wembley with Leeds United after they sealed their place in the final with a last gasp winner against Carlisle. Meanwhile former Lilywhite, David Lucas watched from the substitute's bench.
