Old Boys Midweek Round-Up Part Two

Following on from Tuesday's fixtures, there was a few former Lilywhites still to play this week, primarily in the Premier League.

David Moyes' Everton looked like they were going to send Arsenal back down to North London without even a point for their endeavours after Tim Cahill's goal still separated the two sides going into the closing moments. However, with a never say die attitude, Dutchman Robin van Persie popped up to equalise two minutes into injury team to salvage a point for the Gunners. Carlo Nash was an unused substitute for the Toffees.

Striker Andy Carroll notched his second Premier League goal during Newcastle's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday. Former Magpie Craig Bellamy had put the home side ahead after Shaun Wright-Phillips had put City ahead on 17 minutes. Carroll's goal proved to be a mere consolation goal for Joe Kinnear's side who were without Shay Given who is reportedly on the verge of a move to Manchester City.

Kevin Kilbane played the full ninety minutes for Hull City's 2-0 defeat to West Ham at Upton Park. The former Wigan and Everton midfielder could do nothing to prevent Di Michele and Carlton Cole from scoring the vital goals that gave the Hammers the three points.

The only other fixture that took place on Wednesday night that featured any former North End players was Exeter City's 2-1 defeat away to Chesterfield. Steve Basham had to make do with a second-half substitute appearance, coming on to replace McAllister on 69 minutes. Exeter went ahead in the 17th minute through Moxey but thanks to two goals from Jack Lester on 68 and 80 minutes respectively, Chesterfield ran away with the points.
