Bates Bags the Baggies Televised Match

Tony Bates has been a qualified referee since 1983 and joined the National List assistant referee in 1993. In 1996 he became a FIFA assistant referee and was also appointed to Euro 1996. Having also joined the National List of Referees in 1996 Tony Bates is now one of the longest serving in the football league. He was an Assistant Referee at the Charity Shield in 1995 and also in the FA Cup Final of 1996. He also refereed the FA Women's Cup Final in 2007.

He has refereed three Championship matches this season, producing four cards in total. His last game was on Tuesday when Oldham beat MK Dons 2-1 His last West Brom game was in their promotion season of 2007/08, although the Baggies lost the match 2-1 at Barnsley on 09/02/08.
