Darren Deadman progressed to the National List via the Isthmian League and Panel Leagues joining the National List of assistant referees in 2000 and the referees' list in 2005. His first league game was a 2-2 draw between Boston and Stockport on 15 August 2005, producing four yellow cards.

This season in 30 matches Darren Deadman has produced 97 yellow and 7 red cards. His last game was on 14 March between Cheltenham and Hartlepool, ending in a 2-0 win for the home side. Of his 12 Championship matches this season, only one involved Charlton this ended in a 4-1 to the Owls on 17 January.
