Deadman Down at Deepdale

Last updated : 03 April 2013 By @pnemad

Darren Deadman progressed to the National List via the Isthmian League and Panel Leagues joining the National List of assistant referees in 2000 and the referees’ list in 2005. His first league game was a 2-2 draw between Boston and Stockport on 15 August 2005, producing four yellow cards.

His most notable appointment to date came on 28 May 2011, when he officiated the League Two Play Off Final at Old Trafford as Stevenage beat Torquay 1–0.

On 1 November 2011, He was the referee in the match between Doncaster and Middlesbrough. When Doncaster striker Billy Sharp scored in the 14th minute, Sharp revealed a T-shirt underneath his club shirt which contained the message "That's for you son", in tribute to his newborn son who died two days prior. He elected not to book Sharp, even though such a celebration (the removal of the jersey) requires the referee to show a yellow card to the player under the laws of the game

He has produced 8 yellow cards in his last two matches; his last match was a 1-1 draw between Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday on 1 April. His last Scunthorpe was a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient on 15 December 2012. This will be his first League One match since the Lilywhites match at Swindon.
