Last updated : 07 April 2009 By @pnemad

Andy D'Urso has been a National List match official since 1990 when he was appointed to the National List of assistant referees. He has been a National List referee since 1994 and elected as a Select Group referee in 1999. He was a FIFA referee for four years from 2001 and refereed his first international Match in May 2004 between Republic of Ireland against Nigeria.

Andy D'Urso was dropped from the 'Select Group' of match referees by the Football Association in the summer of 2005. This announcement followed a match between Southampton and Blackburn on 21 August 2004. He appealed, successfully, against the decision to relegate him from the Select Group but he was not selected for a single Premiership match in the 2005/06 season.

From then on he has refereed infrequently in the Premier League but has refereed the FA Charity Shield in 2001 between Liverpool and Manchester United, the FA Youth Cup Final, and the League One Play Off Final in 2007 between Blackpool and Yeovil and in 2008 between Doncaster and Leeds.

So far this season he has officiated in 34 matches, producing 64 yellow and 6 red cards. He has refereed both Preston and Blackpool once this season both ending in 2-0 defeats away from home. His last game was on 28 March in a 1-1 draw between Carlisle and Northampton

His assistants will be Dave McCallum of Tyne & Wear and David Unsworth from Greater Manchester. The fourth official is William Smallwood from Cheshire.
