Jon Moss started refereeing in 1988, in local and Supply Leagues He was promoted to the National List of assistant referees in 2003 and to the National List of Referees in 2005, has refereed a Conference Play Off Final between Carlisle and Stevenage in 2005 and an England U-19 friendly game.

His first league match was a 1-0 win for Rochdale at Shrewsbury on 6 August 2005, later that season the first Championship game Jon Moss officiated was at Deepdale.

The fourteen cards he has produced this season, six came in one match – these were four yellow and two red between Palace and Ipswich.

Jon Moss’s last game was a 2-1 defeat for Burnley at Middlesbrough on 14 September. This will be his first Latics game as referee.

His assistants are Keith Lawson from South Humberside and Andrew Scregg from Liverpool. Andy Penn from West Midlands is the fourth official and was the referee in the Lilywhites defeat at Newcastle earlier in the year.
