Phil Gibbs has been a qualified referee since 1993. He officiated as a referee in the 2007 Sunday Cup Final at Anfield and as Fourth Official in the 2005 Women’s FA Cup Final.

He joined the National List of Referees in 2008 and took charge of his first league match on 7 August 2008 as Shrewsbury beat Macclesfield 4-0.

His last Wycombe match was a 3-1 win at Bury on 30 April 2011 when Ben Strevens scored a brace and a goal from former PNE player Gareth Ainsworth.

His last match was a 2-0 FA Cup victory for Notts County at Doncaster on 7 January.
