Born in March 1963, Scott Mathieson has been a National list match official since 1990, spending four seasons on the line before being promoted to the referees list in 1994. His early career in refereeing were spent in and around his native Stockport and on the Cheshire League. In 2001 he officiated on the finals of The FA Vase and Football League Cup, the latter saw Liverpool beat Birmingham on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

This season he has refereed 25 matches, producing 47 yellow and 2 red cards. His last game on Tuesday was at the City Ground when Forest beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1. The Owls' were reduced to ten men following the sending off of Jeffers.

His assistants on Saturday will be Paul Kettlewell from Lancashire and Paul Simpson from County Durham. The fourth official is Bob Roberts also from Lancashire.
