Haines keeps his manual handy

Andy Haines started refereeing in London in 1995 and was promoted from Class 3 to Class 1 in only three seasons. In 2000 he relocated to the North East and in 2003 was promoted to the National List of Assistant Referees after having successful seasons on the Wearside and Northern Leagues. After two seasons as a Panel referee he was promoted to the National List of Referees in 2007.

His first league game was the goal less drawn League Two match between Chester and Chesterfield on 11 August 2007. Last season he officiated in 24 matches, producing 57 yellow and one red card.

So far this season in 20 matches he has produced 55 yellow and two red cards. His last game was the Lincoln v Bournemouth match on 31 January which finished 3-3. This will be his first Championship match he has taken charge in.

His assistants for the match against Plymouth are Wayne Trott from Merseyside and Jason Tyas from West Yorkshire. The fourth official is Robert Jones from Cheshire.
