Heg gets the nod

Grant Hegley started refereeing in Hertfordshire when he was fifteen years of age. He was promoted to the National List of assistant referees in 1992 before joining the National List of Referees in 2001. His first match was a 1-0 win for Kidderminster at home to Scunthorpe on 11 August 2001.

He was an assistant referee for the 1999 Football League Trophy Final at Wembley between Millwall and Wigan. He took over at half time as Referee after Roger Dilkes went off injured in the Premier League match in April 1997 between Leicester and West Ham.

His last match was on 17 April with a 2-0 win for West Brom at home to Middlesborough. His last Leicester game was on the opening day of the season with a 2-1 home win over Swansea on 8 August 2009.
