Iain Williamson first qualified as a referee in 1991 at the age of fifteen. He progressed to the National List of Assistant Referees in 1999 and reached the Referees' List in 2002.

His League debut was on 28 December 2002 with a 2-0 win for Oxford at Rushden. This season he has produced 126 yellow and 6 red cards in 27 matches. His one Doncaster game was in a 1-1 draw at Watford on 29 November 2008 which saw the Dons' received three of the eight yellow cards produced that day.

His last game was a 2-1 win for Leyton Orient against Oldham on 28 March which four yellow cards were produced.

His three assistants are all from Yorkshire in David Benton and Duncan Street, whilst the fourth official is Scott Ledger.
