Phil Gibbs has been a qualified referee since 1993. He officiated as a referee in the 2007 Sunday Cup Final at Anfield and as Fourth Official in the 2005 Women’s FA Cup Final.

He joined the National List of Referees in 2008 and took charge of his first league match on 7 August 2008 as Shrewsbury beat Macclesfield 4-0.

He has only previously taken charge of one PNE match, which was his first  Championship tie and this will be the first time he has officiated a Derby County game. His last match was Brighton’s 3-2 victory over Rushden in the FA Cup on 28 November.
