Phil Crossley only started refereeing at the age of 29, starting with the Suburban, Isthmian and Panel Leagues until his promotion to the National List of referees in 2002.

 

His first league game was a 1-1 draw between Kidderminster and Lincoln on 10 August 2002. He was kept busy with seven yellow and one red card.

 

He was the 4th official for the 2005 Football League Cup Final between Liverpool & Chelseaand has refereed the FA Women’s’ Cup Final, FA Vase Final, and a Football League One Play Off Final between Sheffield Wednesday and Hartlepool, in addition to refereeing matches in the Premier League. He missed the 2007/08 season due to injury.

 

His last Doncaster game was a 3-0 win at Plymouth on 18 April 2009. His last game was on 12 December which saw Ipswich beat Blackpool 3-1 and produced 6 yellow cards and a red for Blackpool’s David Vaughan.
