Most North Enders may remember when Rennie first started as a league official taking charge of Preston against Barnet in a then Division Three match. As Preston progressed up the league ladder so did Rennie. Preston had some memorable matches with Rennie including a last minute diving header by Andy Saville to give North End a crucial victory at Northampton in 1995.

Rennie has since been refereeing in the top flight but last took charge of North End for the final game of last season when we beat Leeds by two goals. Mnay thought he should have taken charge of the play off games but the league decided for all clubs concerned that a non-premier league referee will take charge of the most important games of the season!

Last season Rennie from Sheffield took charge of 44 games dishing out 94 yellow cards and five red cards.
