Christopher James "Chris" Lucketti was born on 28 September 1971 in Littleborough. Lucketti started with Rochdale and made one appearance for the club in the 1988/89. In August 1990 Lucketti joined Stockport but during the one season he was with County he didn’t make a first team appearance

Lucketti joined Halifax in July 1991 and made 78 appearances for them, scoring twice, between 1991-93. In October 1993, he moved to Bury for a fee of £50,000 where he made a total of 235 first team appearances and scored 8 goals, winning back to back promotions finished third in Division Three in 1995/96 and Division Two Champions in the 1996/97 season. He was appointed Club Captain and was an ever-present but his final season with Bury saw them relegated from Division One.

In June 1999, Lucketti joined Huddersfield for a fee of £750,000 and made 68 league appearances for The Terriers, His only league goal came in a 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on 26 August 2000, but scored twice in a 2-0 win at Scunthorpe in the League Cup on 10 August 1999. He would have made more appearances but for a broken leg suffered in a match against Bolton. On return to fitness he was made captain but could not stop them being relegated from Division One at the end of the 2000/01 season.

Due to the financial position at Huddersfield, Lucketti moved to Preston in a £750,000 deal at the start of the 2001/02 season. He made his debut in a 2-2 draw at Grimsby on 25 August and scored his first goal on his third appearance in a 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves on 8 September. He scored twice in total during the season from 40 appearances; he missed the final three matches after suffering a gashed foot in the 2-1 defeat at Barnsley on 1 April. The 2002/03 season saw Lucketti notched two further goals in 43 appearances, whilst injuries limited to one goal from 37 appearances in 2003/04.

The 2004/05 season saw Lucketti have his most successful in from of goal with 4 goals from 41 matches including goals in consecutive matches with victories over Coventry and QPR in February 2005. Lucketti played in both the play-off semi finals against Derby and in the final against West Ham at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium His last game for Preston after 161 league appearances was a 2-0 defeat against Middlesbrough in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup on 19 February.

In March 2006, Lucketti joined Sheffield United for the remainder of the 2005/06 season. Lucketti made his first team debut for the Blades, appearing in the 1-1 home draw with Leeds on 18 April 2006. He made 3 first-team appearances before signing a one-year deal on 1 June 2006 with the Blades with both clubs agreeing to a fee of £250,000 as the club was promoted to the Premier League after finishing runners up to Reading in 2005/06.

He was used as defensive cover and as such only made irregular first team starts deputising for injured regulars or in the League or FA Cup matches. On 13 January 2007, he made his Premiership debut at the age of 35 in a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth on 13 January and went on to make eight Premiership appearances over the rest of the season.

In July 2007, after being linked with a moved to Hull, he signed a new one-year contract. But under new boss Bryan Robson he only made 6 appearances. He scored his first and what turned out to be only United goal in the Carling Cup against MK Dons on 28 August 2007.He scored the first goal on twenty minutes as the Blades won 3-2.

On 27 March 2008 he signed on loan until the end of the season for Southampton by new manager Kevin Blackwell, making four appearances for The Saints. Under the terms of his loan deal he was eligible to play in the final game of the season between Sheffield United and Southampton, a match which both sides desperately needed to win to try and finish in the play offs and to avoid relegation respectively, but Lucketti opted to declare himself unavailable for the match to avoid a conflict of interests. Including the 3 match loan Lucketti had made 17 appearances for the Blades

On 4 July 2008, Lucketti signed a two-year deal with Huddersfield, after Sheffield United agreed to cancel the last year of his contract. Then, the following day, he was appointed club captain of the Terriers. He made his second Town debut in the 1-1 draw against at home to Stockport on 9 August 2008. On 25 October, he was sent off in a league match against Peterborough as Town lost 4-0. He didn't reappear in the Huddersfield first team until 28 February 2009, when he came on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw in the return match at Stockport’s Edgeley Park.

After being left out of Lee Clark’s squad for the whole of the 2009/10, he left the club on 17 May 2010 after making 13 appearances for the Terriers. He is now a coach for the Preston youth team.
