Player Profile – Kevin Magee

 

Kevin Magee was born in Bathgate on 10 April 1971 and started his career with Armadale thistle before joining Partick Thistle.

 

Magee singed for Preston for £25,000 in May 1993 and the winger made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Doncaster on 4 March 1994. He made a further 6 appearances during the season as Preston lost the play off final to Wycome although Magee wasn’t involved in the team.

 

He scored on his first appearances of his 1994/95 season as PNE beat Hereford 4-2 at Deepdale on 10 December and made a total of 14 appearances during the season.

 

His last appearance for the Lilywhites came as a substitute for Andy Fensome in a 2-2 draw at Colchester on 12 September 1994. He had made 26 appearances for Preston but had been dogged by illness and injury with breaking his leg three times and been diagnosed as a diabetic. He left at the end of the season when his monthly contract was not renewed.

 

He joined Plymouth in September 1995 but stayed for just three months and made 4 substitute appearances. His one and only appearance in the starting eleven came in a 1-0 defeat at Northampton on 7 November in the Auto Windscreen Shield.

 

In December Magee joined Scarborough and made 28 appearances, scoring one goal but was released at the end of the season as the club had a mass clear out.

 

In August 1996 he returned to Scotland with Dundee before joining Livingston for a fee of £40,000 in August 1997.

 

Magee joined Montrose on loan in January 1999 had had his most successful scoring period with 5 goals from 14 appearances including a spell of three goals in three matches.

 

In June 1999 he joined Berwick making 38 appearances before leaving in February 2001. Magee then had a trial with East Fife in March 2001 scoring once in 8 appearances before returning to Montrose for the second time in May 2001, scoring a further goal in 9 appearances. His last match was a 2-0 home defeat to Elgin on 15 December 2001.
