Omar Daley was born in Kingston, Jamaica on 25 April 1981. He turned out for local sides Central Strikers, Israel and Value P, before he moved to newly-promoted Jamaican Premier League side Hazard United. He had a trial with Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in 2001 before he first came to England in 2002 for trials with Charlton & Everton.

In August 2003, he signed a year-long loan spell with Division One Side Reading after impressing on trial in a 7–0 victory over Northampton. He played just seven games, all as substitute, for Reading. Daley made his debut replacing Scott Murray in the 73rd minute in a 0-0 home draw against Rotherham on 25 August 2003. His final appearance came as a 62nd minute replacement for Kevin Watson in a2-2 draw at home to Bradford on 4 October 2003.

In August 2004 he signed another loan deal, this time with Preston joining Jamaican teammates Ricardo Fuller and Claude Davis. Daley made his debut as a substitute for Youl Mawene in a 1-0 defeat at Brighton on 28 August 2004, which was the last match for Manager Craig Brown. Daley scored in his first Preston start when they beat Mansfield 4-0 in the League Cup on 21 September. He made 14 league appearances for the Lilywhites but only made one league start in a 1-1 home draw against Millwall on 13 November. His last game was as a substitute in a 3-2 home win over Sunderland on New Years Day, he left Preston by mutual consent in January 2005 and returned to Hazard, who had now been renamed Portmore United.

In June 2005, he helped Portmore win the Jamaican National Premier League, with a 2–1 aggregate win in the play-off final against Tivoli Gardens. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Daley scored the only goal in the second leg to give his side victory. [edit]

In March 2006, Daley moved to the United States to play for Charleston Battery on a two-year contract. He was sent off in the team's United Soccer League semi-final 1–0 defeat against Rochester Rhinos and missed the second leg in which Charleston were knocked out after a 0-0 draw. He played 23 times for Charleston, scoring 3 goals. [edit]

After just ten months at Charleston, Daley returned to England when he signed for Bradford City on an 18-month deal to link up with fellow Jamaican internationals Donovan Ricketts and Jermaine Johnson becoming the fourth Jamaican to sign for City under the management of Colin Todd. Daley made his City debut on 27 January in a 2–0 against Yeovil, in what proved to be Johnson's final game for City. He became Johnson's replacement and scored his first club goal in March 2007 in a 4–1 defeat at Rotherham with a 25-yard strike. In total he scored twice in 13 games during the final months of the 2006/07 season.

He became a regular under new manager Stuart McCall failing to start just one game in the first half of the 2007/08 season but he scored only one goal which came against Chester before he signed a new three-and-a-half year contract in January 2008 and netted a total of 4 goals in 41 appearances during the season. The 2008/09 season saw Daley score 3 goals from 28 appearances and was named in the Division Two PFA team of the season, even though he suffered a knee injury in February 2009 against Darlington which required surgery. Daley returned from injury in December 2009 and was limited him to one goal from 14 appearances in the 2009/10 season.

Daley appeared for the Jamaican under 20s in the 2001 World Youth Championships in Argentina but went out in the first round after losing two of their three group games. Daley was first called up to the Jamaican national team for a tour of the Cayman Islands and has been capped more than 50 times and scored five international goals.

Daley scored 3 goals in a week with hiss first International goal came in 2-1 victory over Barbados on 23 March 2003 and a further two in his next two matches in victories over St Lucia and Haiti in the CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifier.
