He was on the winning side twice with a 3-2 win at home to Stoke on Christmas Day and a 1-0 win at former club Grimsby on New Year’s Day. His final match for the Sky Blues was a 1-1 draw at home to Rotherham on 3 January 1920.

Two weeks later Miller made his Preston debut with a 3-1 home win over Middlesbrough. Miller was on the winning side in his first five matches and scored his only goal on his fourth appearance with the only goal in a victory over The Wednesday on 7 February.  Miller made 15 appearances for Preston; his last match was a 1-1 draw at home to Everton on 26 April.
