After a stuttering end to February and March preston managed to gain momentum and more importantly an unbeaten run throughout the final month of the season which meant they secured a play off place and their best finish since 1964 both position and points wise.

The month started with a first visit to the Ricoh Arena where hosts coventry were unbeaten on their home patch since late last year. A Simon Whaley goal gave Preston a desreved win. This was followed up by a home win against Norwich whose season was pretyt much already over.

Going into the Easter weekend Preston were favourites to secure a top six finish and did so at Leicester despite going behind after 12 seconds. Another goal from Whaley and a first for Jarrett saw the Whites confirmed in the play offs. Two days later Preston notched up a comfortable win at home to Wolves before a Whaley goal earned a draw away at Hull.

The final game of the season saw Preston's biggest crowd of the season as they notched up their first victory over Leeds since 1964 with a first goal for Brian Stock and a header from Ormerod.

Over the past few weeks davies has had the luxury of resting players and bringing others in as well as getting the injured players back fit again. There are now plenty of competition for places as Preston now head to Elland Road on Friday with a strong 5,000 following for the play off semi final first leg. The return match is on Monday where Preston will be hoping to end the season yet again with another trip to Cardiff.
