January Review

The month started badly on the pitch thanks to a dubious refereeing decision awarding Derby a penalty which saw an end to Preston's 15 month unbeaten home run.

The month also ended badly as Preston went down one nil to an impressive looking Colchester outfit.

It must be said the bits in between were not too bad with success in both cup matches providing Preston with a lucrative home tie against Manchester City. A home league win over Stoke and away victory at Barnsley has meant Preston stay in the play off places at the end of the month.

The month came and went with Nugent staying at Deepdale until the end of the season. Mccormack and Stock made their moves permanent whilst Tommy Miller was back on his way to the North East. Carlo nash is till a Preston player despite a public bust up with the club and Andy Smith's contract was terminated.

Preston signed ex-Bolton player Michael Ricketts alongside Gambian centre half Soley from Ghenk with czech player Pergl for Sparta Prague. Neil Mellor also played his first minutes for the club. Wayne Henderson signed as a back up keeper.
