Billy's Return

Preston go into the game unbeaten in league matches at home throughout 2006 partly due to Billy Davies who will be leading the visitors back to Deepdale.

Davies left Deepdale in the Summer in aromonious circumstances along with a number of backroom staff saying he had taken the club as far as he could - obviously not far enough as Paul Simpson has taken the club to a new level.

Both sides were not expecting much to come out of this season except stability and progression. Due to the mediocrity of the league both Derby and Preston see themselves in opposition for the second automatic spot at this stage of the season only six points behind Birmingham.

After a makeshift side disposed of Sunderland, Simpson will still be without the suspended Dichio but Mckenna and Whaley are expected to return to the squad.

Ormerod will start alongside Nugent up front front. The youngster has bagged three in his last three matches ahead of the transfer windown and no doubt the scouts will be about on New Years Day.

Preston will be looking to continue good recent homew form to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack.
