In Search Of Points

Irvine is hoping it is third time lucky after losing his opening two matches in management. He has admitted the task is a tough one with not much time available for training as the matches come thick and fast before the New Year.

Preston face their second away game of the week and not one they look forward to with great enthusiasm as results away from Deepdale have been poor this calender year.

Irvine may tinker again with the squad. Lapses in concentration cost Preston at Palace and a change in personnel may not instil confidence. The back line is likely to remain unghanged.

The midfield was paked at Palace and a side that is leaking goals always needs that extra man in the middle so there may not be too many changes in this department. Neal may well have to settle for a place on the bench after a midweek workout in the reserves.

Agyemang was the lone frontman in midweek with Gallagher and Ormerod starting last Saturday. Mellor appears to have been left out altogether not even featuring in the reserves. Due to fitness being a problem, Irvine may rotate his strikers once again and it will be interesting to see which of the six strikers start.
