Match Preview: PNE v Stoke

Last updated : 29 August 2003 By Andrea Barnes

PNE are expected to have no changes on Saturday at Deepdale against in-form Stoke, after their 1-0 defeat at West Brom on Bank Holiday Monday.

They started the game at the Hawthorns with a new 3-5-2 formation, which looked impressive, before ‘keeper Gould got sent off undeservedly sent off on 40 minutes. Television replays showed he didn’t make any contact with Lee Hughes, but he’ll play against Stoke on Saturday before the decision is made.

Ex-Blackburn Defender Marlon Broomes came back from injury on Monday to play against the Baggies, and an impressive performance will mean he is probable to maintain his place in the 11. Another central defender, Claude Davis, sets to make his home debut for the Whites after solid performance at the Hawthorns.

It is vital that North end win this game, picking only one point up since the start of the season.

Probable line up (3-5-2) Gould, Alexander, O’Neill, Broomes, Davis, Lucketti, Lewis, Keane, McKenna, Cresswell, Fuller.
