Chorley Vs Preston North End Match Preview

Pre-season Friendly Tuesday 17th July 2012

Venue: Victory Park, Chorley

Following a comprehensive 2-0 win over Southport at the weekend, North End make the short trip south of the Ribble to Victory Park to take on Chorley.

Much like Saturday's opponents Southport, Garry Flitcroft's side missed out on promotion to the tier above last season.

Although considered as little more than a training game by some, the Magpies have been making slow but steady progress under former Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Garry Flitcroft since taking over in 2006.

Thus, the trip from PR1 to PR7, which is North End's second of seven pre-season warm-up games, will be a worthy test heading into a pivotal season in the history of Preston North End.

Previous Meetings

North End ran out 2-0 winners last year and, subsequently, with the Jack Kirkland Trophy.

The now outcasted Iain Hume put the Lilywhites 1-0 ahead on 17 minutes before Jamie Proctor made it 2-0 mid way through the second half.

Team News

Lee Trundle is likely to play against another of his former clubs making it two in as many games for North End whilst Graham Westley continues to take a closer look at trialists including goalkeepers Peter Enckleman, David Gonzalez and Tony Warner.

However, German-stopper Thorsten Stuckmann is set to make his pre-season bow meaning that it is most likely that just one of the aforementioned trialist goalkeepers will feature at Victory Park.

Midfielder John Welsh will miss out after taking a knock to his ankle at Haig Avenue at the weekend.

New addition David Amoo, Chris Robertson and Bailey Wright and all missed out with slight knocks for the trip to Southport but could be in line for return on Tuesday night.

Should Bailey Wright feature the Australian centre half will be the only player who ran out at Victory Park last year to be included in Graham Westley's match squad.
