PNE welcome last year's Premiership side, WBA to Deepdale on Tuesday only three days after the last home game. Preston lie in tenth whilst WBA head the top of the play off positions in third, losing only once so far, to Sunderland . The two sides haven't met for three seasons in the league because of WBA's stint in the Premiership however WBA beat PNE at Deepdale in the F.A Cup two seasons ago in a game that ended 2-0. The last league meeting at Deepdale ended in a 3-0 victory for the home side.

This is the second game since the closure of the transfer window but the much speculated about David Nugent will be missing after his dismissal versus Cardiff on Saturday. Good news came to PNE when it was revealed Ormerod and Nowland started contact training last week however they are still not match fit. Mellor however could be in the team and participate in this game.

WBA have been very busy this past summer, bringing in and selling plenty of star names. Amongst their ranks now, they have John Hartson, Zoltan Gera, Curtis Davis (injured), Kevin Phillips and Jonathan Greening are just a few.

Preston go into the game high on confidence after their victory against table toppers Cardiff, whilst WBA enter the game having won their last game 2-0 at home to Leicester.

Preston still have an injury list including Davidson and Mawene and the unfit Ormerod, Smith, and Nowland. David Nugent is also suspended. WBA have their captain, Curtis Davis injured.

Player to watch: John Hartson. Big John Hartson, known for his physical approach, was a summer arrival from Celtic and scored two goals for the baggies on his league debut. The Welsh international has scored over 150 league goals and over 200 career goals and has accumulated a staggering cost of £19.3m in transfer fees in total.

Match prediction: 1-1

Next fixture: Derby County (away) Sat 16/9
