“It was horrendous”

Craig Brown was definitely not lost for words after the Referee Kaye cost them a 1-0 defeat at West Brom when he sent off ‘keeper Gould on 40 minutes.

Gould allegedly hacked down striker Lee Hughes in the penalty area. But as soon as the Ref made the decision keeper Gould went raging at Kaye, as he was 100 per cent sure no contact was made!

Boss Brown confronted the Referee after the match, and said: "It was horrendous. The fact that we are desperate for points makes it the more galling.

"The fates weren’t with us again. In four league fixtures this year three have involved extremely controversial decisions – and none have gone our way!

"We were denied two penalties against West Ham and one against Sunderland.

"Now we have conceded one here. All these are vital decisions in term of points. We just aren’t getting the rub of the green. It’s amazing.

"The referee told me he had made an honest decision as he saw it.

"But even if there had been contact it wasn’t a clear-cut scoring opportunity because he was going away from goal and he had a hell of a lot of work to do to score from there with defenders coming back."
