A Remembrance Game Best Forgotten

After the playing of the Last Post the game kicked off but for the most part there was little goalmouth action in the first forty five minutes. Pearson came in for the injured Ben Pringle in the only change for Preston but they couldn't find an attacking edge to break down Wolves.

Paul Lambert was in charge for his first game as manager of Wolves. Twelve months earlier he was here with Blackburn but on Saturday he set out to frustrate and deny rather than create in what has been a poor start to the season for the visitors.

Neither keeper was tested until the second half. The best chances came late on. Dicko had two close range headers with one going wide when he should have perhaps done better.

Preston had two main chances in the last quarter. Makienok came on as a substitute and was free around six yards out when he met a cross. His header ballooned over the bar and apart from his League Cup hat-trick the striker has done little to impress this season.

Makienok was let off the hook for best chance missed when he played in his strike partner Hughill in the last minute of stoppage time. The frontman was one on one with Lonergan but blasted well over the bar which summed up the afternoon.

Wolves will be thankful of the point and Preston remain firmly in mid-table having still only lost to Newcastle in the past two months. North End face Burton at home next Saturday when they will be hoping for better things.
