It is unclear how the link was made given that Preston have added Sam Johnstone on loan with Chris Kirkland as back up and Matt Hudson being an able youngster.
The only truth in thematter could be if Johnstone's initial loan was not extended beyond the 28 day period but I expect negotiations are already ongoing to keep the United keeper for the season.
