The 34 year old signed before the transfer deadline in a deal that first surfaced prior to the weekiend's fixtures. Ashbee was out of contract in the summer at Hull who had not offered him a new deal. Brown offered his former captain an 18 month contract and Ashbee will now go straight into the squad for tomorrow night's trip at Barnsley.
