Brentford Blitz Preston

The visitors took the lead early on but the game was lost in the space of five second half minutes as inept defending allowed a struggling Brentford side to take all three points.

The usual excuse this season has been that Preston have been defeated by a team expected to finish in the top six. Whilst Brentford made the play offs last season they have had a very poor start and Preston should be picking up points from teams around them in the table.

Alan Browne, who couldn't get in the team for the best part of last season was suddenly catapulted into the midfield with Welsh dropped to the bench. Grayson did go to four at the back although Gallagher was still missing through injury.

The game started off well with Preston taking the lead in less than a minute. The first attack resulted in a shot which parried and Johnson, North End's top scorer tapped home for a very early lead.

Preston had the best of the first half but could not convert their possession which has been a constant theme this year. No strikers have scored int he lead which results in a poor service from midfield.

Pickford kept Preston in the game with one outstanding save in the first half but there was little he could do in the second. Brentofed levelled shortly after the break when substitute Vibe converted a cross.

Moments later Preston were behind. Humphrey, on as sub barely left the ground jumping for a header. Preston subsequently lost possession and again down the right hand side of defence, North End were outpaced. Djuricin beat his man before firing home.

Preston rarely threatened despite throwing men forward. The club now sit in the bottom three iwth a up game at home to Bournemouth before two difficult games against Wolves and away at Sheffield Wednesday.
