Jason Scotland and David Norris put Ipswich in command before Paul Coutts scored relegated Preston`s consolation in the second half.
Brown included youngsters Daniel Devine and Scott Leather in his starting line-up and was pleased with the way they performed.
He said: "We lost the game and that's a habit we need to get out of our system as quickly as possible. But in the main, I was quite pleased with individual performances.
"It was a big day for the kids making their debuts and it was a big day for me, too, because at 2-0 down you're facing an uphill task.
"But fortunately we caused a lot of problems for them in the second half and I thought one or two of my players were sensational. I've said I don't want to finish bottom of this league and we can still catch Scunthorpe, if we beat Watford next Saturday."
