North End suffered defeat away at QPR and with it their recent unbeaten run was ended. In truth, despite taking the lead after the break Preston showed no conviction that they would come away wth three points.

McCann was given his first start but his injury along with Bauer going off really weakened Preston in the long run although they did initially score twice after McCann left the field.

The hosts took the lead through Dykes with a close range effort after he managed to shoot taking the ball off Cunningham. Preston were second best and Iversen kept them in the game.

McCann then departed but shortly after Preston scored with their first real attempt of the game just before the break as Riis finished off a good move to level the score.

After the break Preston started strongly with Earl scoring from a Maguire cross to give the visitors somewhat of a surprising lead but North End were unable to hold on.

In the space of four minutes the game turned. Dunne poked home before Chair gave the home side the lead. The defending could have been stronger and Preston will be disappointed.

North End now have a two week break to reflect and try to improve.
