Last updated : 14 July 2009 By Paul Neat

Before we get to Monday’s fictures there were still two more pre-season games from Saturday to catch up on:

Barnsley 3-2 Ferencvaros

(Bogdanovic 44, Odejayi 72, Sodje 82) (Kulcsar 57, Shaw 87)

Firstly, it was The Tykes made it two in two after edging out Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros in a five goal thriller. Bogdanovic continued his rich vein of goal scoring form by netting the opener before Kulcsar brought the visitors level just shy of the hour mark. Odejayi and Sodje put daylight between the two sides only to see Shaw halve Barnsley’s advantage with just three minutes remaining.

Gorlestone 0-8 Ipswich Town

A very young Ipswich Town side enjoyed an afternoon of goal slut against Gorlestone on Saturday. David Cawley put Blues ahead early in the first-half with a long range strike before Shane O'Connor got on the end of an Upson pass to double the lead. Trialist O'Connor grabbed his second and Town's sixth just before the break. Upson's free-kick extend the advantage on 55 minutes and two minutes before the hour, O'Connor's header was diverted in by a Gorleston player to complete the scoring.

There were a handful of fixtures on Monday night where, amongst others, Preston’s bitter rivals Blackpool where in action:

Barnstaple 0-5 Blackpool

Burgess, Ormerod, Clarke, DeFreitas, Nardiello

Blackpool’s emphatic start to pre-season continued on Monday after seeing off Barnstaple in the South West Challenge Cup. Five different scorers sealed the win including former Lilywhite Brett Ormerod and the graduate Ben Burgess. Other goals from Clark and trialist DeFreitas made it four before former Manchester United trainee Daniel Nardiello completed the rout.

Truro City 0-2 Plymouth Argyle

Puncheon, Barnes

Paul Sturrock’s Plymouth Argyle sealed an unconvincing win over nearby Truro City on Monday evening. Sturock fielded two separate sides in the 2-0 win with goals coming from Puncheon and Barnes which proved to be enough to seal the win in what was Argyle’s first outing of pre-season.

Up Next: Torquay United @ Plainmoor 15th July 2009 KO 19:45

Hereford 1-2 Bristol City

(Morris) (Skuse, Plummer)

Bristol City had to wait to the last possible minute to come from behind and see off Hereford United on Monday night. Lee Morris put the home side ahead before half-time only to see Cole Skuse peg The Bulls back. Tristan Plummer’s last minute strike saved the Robins’ blushes to seal the win.

Next Up: Cheltenham Town @ Abbey Business Stadium 18th July 2009 KO 15:00

The only other Championship team involved in any sort of pre-season run out was Sheffield Wednesday who played in two 45-minute matches in Malta. Both were 1-0 wins with Sean McAllister scoring the only goal against Floriana whilst Etienne Esajas sealed the win against Dingli Swallows.
