Comeback Win For North End

Grayson has often been criticised for only having a plan A. The statisitcs show that away from home Preston have never won a game from a losing position with Grayson in charge and it seems that yesterday was only the third league game following Peterborough and Fleetwood where Preston have won after being behind.

North End were woeful in the first half. Johnstone started on his return whilst Doyle partnered Garner up front. Preston looked lacklustre and whilst it wasn't as poor as the Huddesrfield game they were nowehre near the same tempo as the last game against Hull.

The Rotherham goal was quite simple. It was a cross which was finished from close range. It was terrible all round. The cross wasn't prevented. The marking was poor. There was a question mark over whether the keeper could have done more.

The visitors were deservedly in front and should have pressed home their advantage. The lead was only one at half time and Grayson switched to a three at the back which changed the impetus in the game.

Preston came out with more energy and were on the front foot. Gallagher was switched out wide which helped supply the frontmen. The goal came from close range from a cross with Doyle tapping home. He now has an opportunity to cement a place in the side.

Despite Preston pressing it appeared the game was heading for a draw until deep into injury time. Vermijl launched a long throw into the box and inexplicable Harris-Clarke flicked on past his own keeper.

Rotherham will feel hard done by but Preston improved in the second half. The Whites have cemented a midtable position and will now be looking to reach a safety position as soon as possible.
