North End remained unchanged from Saturday's victory as they took on bogey side Walsall at Deepdale last night. The home side took a desreved victory but the margin could have been so much more.

The game took a similar feel to the JPT game at Deepdale around 6 weeks or so ago. Preston started well but the Walsall keeper pulled off some fantastic saves to keep the score level.

Huntington, Gallagher and Garner all had good chances to give Preston the lead but the visiting keeper was once again in inspired form and it could have been one of those nights ahain.

Fortunately, Chris Humphrey burst down the right beating his man and pulling the ball back to Daniel Jonhnson who arrived int he box to score his second int wo games since joining from Villa last month. He si the goalscoring midfielder that Preston have missed.

At the start of the second half Preston went for the killer second goal with Gallagher hitting the bar and Clarke heading against the post. The latter was then taken off as he clashed heads when hitting the post.

Walsall rarely threstened until the home side sat back towards the end of the game inviting a bit of pressure. Johnstone had one save to make at the end of the game and it would have been unjust for the visitors to have taken any points from this match.

The win means Preston close the gap on MK Dons and Preston remain 8 points behind leaders Bristol City with a game in hand but second place in the table is now well and truly in sight.
