Davidson rarely played after the change of management and was released before the end of the season. He has had an injury plagued time at North End and Brown needs a left back who will play a full season in League One.
It was thoguht that Davidson would join up with old boss Craig Brown but instead he has signed a one year deal at St Johnstone which will see him pass his 35th birthday.
